King Hussein I
Royal Palace
Amman, Jordan
Your Supreme Excellency:
Please allow me to extend my congratulations on your long and successful reign. I have followed your career for some time now and have been interested for years in Jordan and other countries located in that area (i.e., Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Bangladesh, and Saudi Arabia). I must extend also my great admiration for the way you have supported through various means the just cause of the Palestinian peoples, many of whom are refugees within your country, now citizens of Jordan.
Where would the Palestinian peoples be without your open door policy and your self-sacrificial support of their cause? It is men like you who have led in the fight for social justice and peace in the Middle East. Fortune, however, is not always keen to the motives, good or bad, of men. Sadly, she turned a blind eye on the Palestinian peoples, but luckily you were there watching!
Thank you for the inspiration. If you would do me the honor of sending me a photograph of yourself (I hope this does not offend you: realistic images sometimes forbidden for Muslims), I would be grateful.
I send to you my best wishes for the future and for peace.
Sincerely,

Phil Saunders
